Thuringowa Touch was notified by Townsville City Council last Thursday that the fields at Greenwood Park will be closed and dug up on Monday the 2nd of November and remain closed until January 2010.

Our season is expected to run through until the first week in December so this poses a bit of tricky situation. At the moment we are seeking any input you would like to provide as to how we can negotiate the loss of fields at Greenwood Park. We are presently seeking information on the availability of fields in close vicinity to Greenwood Park. Those fields which we know to be available are listed below. Could you please consider either of the following options and discuss them with your teams so we can try to find a popular alternative to our present games at Greenwood Park?

Options available are:

1. Continue with the present situation and move to alternate fields:
   Those proposed include: James Cook University (4 fields), Townsville Soccer at Murray (4 fields). Both locations are available but may require an additional time-slot to accommodate the number of games we play.
2. Continue with the present situation but play 2 games per week for 5 weeks. This would incorporate either Monday or Tuesday nights or Sunday afternoons.
3. Continue with our present situation but finish the season with a carnival on either the 17th and 18th October or the 24th/25th October at Greenwood Park. This would involve 3-5 round games and 2 finals on the carnival weekend.

Any alternate suggestions are welcome. We are quite powerless to do anything about the inconvenience this will cause but offer our sincere acknowledgement that it is going to be less convenient than our present fixtures. On an upside, it will however lead to us having access to better quality fields for next year and presents us with an opportunity to do something different. A carnival before Christmas could be good to work off some pounds before we kick into Christmas parties.

If you could provide some indication of your teams preferred option above or any other suggestion you may have this week it would greatly assist us in planning to make any changes as smooth as possible.
